Part Fourteen : Shine Little Star; Dracas Gets A Little Reassurance

Listen to Little Star

"Get back in here!" Enzeru's foster mother yelled as Enzeru ran out of the house. Although Enzeru could not see what was ahead of her, she was determined to get away from the house as fast as she could. "Enzeru!" the woman called once again, but Enzeru did not hear her because she was too busy turning a corner, and she tried not to fall as she rounded the corner.

Ever since Enzeru had been coming home late after school, her foster mother had been acting negatively toward her. Enzeru's mother knew that she would be late coming home from school and ballet practice, yet when it came time, she seemed to forget.

Enzeru found it strange that her mother could not grasp the fact that she had friends who would want to spend some time with her. After all, that's what friends were for as far as Enzeru was concerned. Enzeru wondered if her mother was so used to seeing Enzeru without any friends that when she finally did get some friends, her mother was unable to grasp the concept. That was a definite possibility. Enzeru knew that her mother had tried to throw out any friends that Enzeru had in the past, so she feared that now no one would care for her truly.

A tear fell down Enzeru's cheek as she continued to walk at a slower pace now that she was away from the problem. It was her mother's fault that she did not have any friends; or was it? Enzeru slouched as she thought that perhaps it was her own fault that she had no friends. Enzeru couldn't imagine why that would be.

After a few more minutes of walking, Enzeru stopped at a street corner, and she reached into her pocket. Even though she could not see it, the small pocketknife gleamed, and Enzeru smiled. She quickly put the knife back into her pocket, and she continued to walk because she decided that there were too many people around the street corner. When Enzeru was satisfied that there were not a lot of people around, and she could tell that by the amount of footsteps that she heard around herself, she brought out the knife again. However, this time Enzeru brought the knife out entirely, and she began to twirl it between her fingers.

As Enzeru twirled the knife a third time, she brought it close to her wrist, but a bright light flashed, and Enzeru fell back with a scream. The last time that Enzeru had seen light had been when she had lost her eyesight. As she looked up from the ground, she noticed a beautiful woman dressed in white with almost white hair standing in front of her. It was Queen Serenity.

"Dracas," Queen Serenity said gently as she took a step toward the fallen senshi. Enzeru was puzzled that her eyesight had returned because she was not in her senshi form.

"Queen Serenity," Enzeru said as she got on her knees after she realized that it must have been Serenity's pure energy that had restored her vision.

"Dracas, my little star," Serenity said as she knelt down in front of Enzeru, and she put her hand on Enzeru's cheek. Enzeru, since her birth, had not felt so much pure energy, and a tear ran down her cheek. "You are more than you think you are," Serenity reassured her as she whipped away the tear. "You were chosen as a senshi for a reason, and I refuse to let you throw your life away," Serenity's voice turned from gentle to stern.

Enzeru was about to protest, but she held herself back. Instead, a few more tears ran down Enzeru's cheeks, and she embraced Serenity. Serenity ran her hand over Enzeru's hair in a reassuring gesture. "You may not know this," Serenity began as she looked straight into Enzeru's vibrant eyes, "but you are just as important as all of the other senshi, and do not let anyone tell you otherwise." Enzeru nodded; Serenity kissed Enzeru on her forehead, and she disappeared.

Enzeru blinked a few times, and it was strange because she was still able to see. It was as if Enzeru's eyes were now open to the truth, and they were not closed from reality like they had been.

Dorei waited for Hoshi as her math teacher gave the class a few more instructions before they were allowed to leave for the day. Dorei moved out of the way as the other students tried to get out of the classroom as fast as they could, and when they were all gone, Dorei could see Hoshi having trouble zipping up her bag. When Hoshi was ready, she walked to the door, and the two walked off the large campus.

"Lot of homework?" Dorei asked as she looked at Hoshi's enormous bag.

"I hate math," Hoshi said with a disgusted frown.

"Did you see Enzeru at all today?" Dorei asked as they walked onto the main street, and they began to walk toward Dorei's house like they did everyday after school.

"No. She didn't look too good yesterday; she didn't even say hi to me," Hoshi said as she remembered that she had wanted to check on the younger girl.

"I saw her walking home after school yesterday, and she didn't look too happy," Dorei added.

Hoshi thought about this for a few seconds, and then she decided to speak. "I'm sure that she'll feel better. She's really good at getting over bad things."

"Yes, but this didn't seem right," Dorei added. It was clear to Hoshi that Dorei was truly troubled by their friend's behavior, and she did not want to believe that Enzeru was going to be ok without someone's help.

"Maybe she got a bad grade on a test?" Hoshi suggested as they crossed the street with a group of kids from their school.

"She wouldn't have been so disappointed," Dorei replied with a sideways glance to Hoshi.

"No, but maybe it was a major test," Hoshi said.

"I think we should meet with her," Dorei suggested. Hoshi sighed in defeat as she realized that Dorei had reached a conclusion that even she could not fight.

"Honestly, Enzeru's old enough to handle her own problems," Hoshi stated bluntly.

"You don't have to if you don't want to, but I seriously think that something was wrong with her," Dorei said, and she had to contain herself from snapping at her friend.

Hoshi shook her head, and they reached Dorei's house shortly after that.

"I love taking regular classes," Enzeru said to Chibiusa as she took a bite from her ice cream. It was a Friday afternoon, almost a week since Enzeru had seen Serenity, and she had been moved to regular classes. Although it was strange that Enzeru had suddenly gotten her eyesight back, none of the teachers questions her intensely, and she was now allowed to be with the regular school children. In celebration of this, Chibiusa and Enzeru had decided to meet and get ice cream after school.

"That must have stunk," Chibiusa said, referring to Enzeru having to take special classes. As Chibiusa took a lick of her ice cream, she got some on her nose, and the two girls started to laugh.

After they stopped laughing, Enzeru continued, "Serenity was so beautiful." Chibiusa, having been told previously that Enzeru had seen Serenity, nodded.

"I bet," she said as she took another lick; however, this time she was careful.

A flock of birds flew over them, and Enzeru looked up at them. "It's so amazing to be able to see the birds instead of just hear them. I forgot that things could look so beautiful."

"How old were you when you lost your vision?" Chibiusa said as she switched positions on her chair.

"I think I was three," Enzeru said. "So I don't really remember what things looked like." The two girls were quiet for a few minutes as they continued to eat their ice cream. "I got placed in another home last week. After Serenity came I played dumb with my ex-foster mom, and I switched out. I think it would have been just a little weird if I would have showed up at my ex-foster mom's house with my vision back."

"You didn't like living with her, did you?" Chibiusa asked as she finished her ice cream. Enzeru started giggling, she almost choked on her ice cream cone.

"Anyway, I feel so much better now that I don't have to work so hard at things, and I think that I will be able to be a better senshi," Enzeru said as she also finished her ice cream. Not soon after that, a large explosion was heard inside the ice cream shop (the girls were sitting outside), and a short, gray yajuu emerged from the building. It didn't take long before the crowd outside recognized the creature, and everyone began to run. Enzeru and Chibiusa both ran behind the building before the creature could spot them.

"Moon Prism Power, Make up!" Chibiusa shouted, and she was surrounded by pink and white energy instantly.

"Dracas Constellation Power, Make up!" Enzeru yelled, and as she transformed she could feel a stronger energy than she was used to overcome her. The two girls ran back out to where the yajuu was still looking for them. The creature was holding a young girl, and it was about to injure her when it noticed the two senshi.

"The darkness from the constellation Draco sends it power, and with that, I am Sailor Dracas, bringing darkness into the battle scene," Sailor Dracas said, and as she spoke, she was filled with more pride and confidence than before.

"Attacking innocent little girls is a crime, and you will pay for your wrong actions. I am Sailor Chibimoon, and in the name of the future moon I will punish you!" Sailor Chibimoon also said confidently.

   "Chibis," the yajuu mocked.

"Dracas Shooting Star!" Dracas yelled as she threw a bright purple star at the creature. The star managed to get the creature despite its efforts to dodge it. When the yajuu was hit, it became extremely angry, and it charged the two girls. As the yajuu neared, a rose struck the ground in its path, which caused it to stop.

From behind the creature, Tuxedo Kamen appeared, and he attempted to hit it with his cane. However, the yajuu heard the cane move through the air, so it jumped up, turned, and grabbed the cane from Tuxedo Kamen. The yajuu decided to break the cane in two, and it threw it back to the caped man.

"Pink Sugar Heart Attack!" Sailor Chibimoon yelled after becoming angry at the yajuu for attacking HER Tuxedo Kamen. The attack had no effect on the yajuu, but it did make it mad at her.

"Virgas Melody Entraption!" Sailor Virgas yelled as she jumped in front of Chibimoon. Sailor Virgas held up her hands as she closed her eyes. Four lines of energy emerged from the ground right after Virgas closed her eyes. Virgas dropped her hands to form an X in front of her chest, and the lines encircled her quickly. When she opened her eyes, the lines disappeared, and the yajuu believed that the attack failed.

"Stupid," the yajuu sobbed as the four lines of energy came up from the ground below it, encircled it, and the yajuu realized that two new senshi had now joined Chibimoon, Dracas, and Tuxedo Kamen.

"Gemini Clones Collide!" Sailor Gemini said. Sailor Gemini appeared with her staff hovering over her outstretched hands. The orbs on either side of the staff began to rise above Gemini, and the staff disappeared; the orbs remained above Gemini's hands. Sailor Gemini raised her hands above her head, and she looked up as the orbs flew above her hands, weaving in and out of each other. Suddenly they stopped, a big explosion was heard as the orbs collided, and there was a large shower of green and blue stars that made the yajuu scream.

When the stars hit the creature, its skin began to sizzle, and it slowly began to disappear. Sailor Gemini smiled innocently as the orbs returned to her staff.

Kerai slammed her first on a nearby wall when she saw Sailor Gemini defeat the yajuu. Kerai was not only mad about this, but she was also mad that Dracas was feeling more confident even though Kyuuteki had said that she would feel sad and depressed. A slight wind picked up, and Kerai looked behind her to see Kaboku, who had just appeared.

   "No luck?" Kaboku asked.

"He lied," Kerai said as she grew more and more frustrated by the second.

"Did the yajuu even hurt anyone?" Kaboku asked as he walked over to the side of the building where he could see the group of senshi gathered.

"No, but it did manage to break Tuxedo Kamen's cane," Kerai said as she noticed Tuxedo Kamen pick up the two pieces that had made his cane.

"It's better than what the others had done," Kaboku pointed out sarcastically; Kerai glared at him for a second.

"What bugs me is that Dracas should be feeling depressed, and she's happier than she's ever been," Kerai said as she turned back to look at the group, and she saw Dracas talking with Chibimoon.

"Somewhere we went wrong," Kaboku said. "Although Kyuuteki told me that he felt a sudden rush of purity on the earth. When he tried to look into it, the energy was gone. He thinks it was Serenity. That would explain Dracas' new happiness."

"Serenity?" Kerai said as she widened her eyes. "Never," she said with a shake of her head. The sun began to set as a sign that the day was beginning to draw to a close. The two stopped talking as a few people walked by them on their way home from work. Kerai frowned as one person touched her, and she made it seem as though that person had just rubbed some mud onto her clothes.

A flock of birds suddenly flew from the tree that Kaboku and Kerai were standing under, and they had to duck in order to avoid being hit by the birds. "I guess it's time to go," Kerai said once the flock of birds had left.

Enzeru, who had detransformed, turned away from the group of senshi for a second, and she saw a male and a female walk away. With her keen hearing, which had been well developed from years of relying on it so much, Enzeru knew perfectly well that the couple was Kaboku and Kerai even though she had never seen them in human form. Enzeru wanted to enjoy this moment of victory, so she did not bring up what she saw with the other senshi. After saying goodbye, the five of them walked their separate ways, and Enzeru smiled to herself because she knew that she had made a difference in this battle.
